Leave it All Behind

Through  the headphones I can hear rain
I listen through them that I might hear
as window through the brick walls
I should be outside

But I am afraid

Of falling ill
Falling grades
Slipping in the mud

Pondering back on such trivial matters
I realize my error

Some of the greatest moments happen
after we fall
so why is there fear?
The temporary pain?

Barley a second long and
It will hardly hurt compared to the joy
felt only by leaving our fear behind
and living like our true selves

Free of judgment,
Embracing the rain,
reborn from pain
being washed away.
