#Color Of Loss

I have decided to enter another Draw With Jazza competition. If you would like to join me, go for it, chances are you followed my link from his newgrounds page to here.

This month we were given line work to color in and I really enjoyed playing with detail and the color schemes in this amazing piece.

This is my work in progress.

I started with the basic line work. I'm going to be honest I went from the least to the most challenging.
I began by printing the image onto a piece of multi media paper (which by some miracle it worked.) I printed a seperate image off to practice a coulple things that I hadn't attempted before (not pcitured here) because if we're being honest I have never done this kind of skin tone before and I have never done successful clouds.
So here's the process that I went through to get here.
I'm actually really proud with how much time I put in to getting the details.

(*I wish there wasn't a glare but I had to use the flash to get even lighting, I also think my camera is broken because without it the whole picture looks muddy and blurred.*)

Choosing my color palette and the air I wanted to come off with this piece. I made swatches because the no name brand I have doesn't have a very gradient scale.
I wanted the women to appear mysterious so I chose a light blue to be the highlight of the color and a light green as a more ominous symbol of the destruction.

I tired to tell a story with this as much as I could.
I had the green light off to the side as if from a battle explosion.
I chose blue roses to represent the unattainable. Which is part of the reason the she is a blue ghost as part of that symbol. Even his scarf to symbol the life he's fighting for.
The wound could be his personal as well as where she died in his arms.

And here's the final image again!
Thanks!
